Manali, The beautiful place

Manali is the beautiful hill station in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, India, near the northern end of the Kullu Valley. It is located about 250 kilometres (155 mi) north of state capital, Shimla. Manali is administratively a part of the Kullu district.

The summer season in Manali generally starts in the month of end-March and lasts through June. The maximum summer temperature during this time is generally around 26 degrees centigrade. Travelers are recommended to bring light cotton clothes to wear in this season.

Winter
Winters in Manali start from the month of October and lasts until February and are extremely cold. Even these weather conditions do not stop tourists from coming and seeing the snow capped peaks. Travellers are recommended to come with heavy woollen clothes during winters to enjoy exotic treat at Manali. In early March, Manali become awesome, with colourful fruits and flowers and various colure of butterflies flying all around.

 

TOURISTS ATTRACTIONS


The oft-visited site in Manali is the Hidimba or Dhungri Temple. Erected in 1533, this temple is dedicated to the local deity Hidimba, wife of the Pandava prince, Bhim. A major festival is held here in the month of May. The temple is noted for its four-storeyed pagoda and exquisite wooden carvings.

Manali is known for its shiny gompas or Buddhist monasteries. With the highest concentration of Tibetan refugees in the entire Kullu valley, it is famous for its Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa, built in 1969. The monastery is maintained by donations from the local community and through the sale of hand-woven carpets in the temple workshop.
